Ever wanted to learn how cancer medical research is done at Stanford Medical Center? Want to meet professionals and students involved in the field? Come to our kick-off meeting next Friday, May 18th, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, featuring the Vice-Chair in Radiation Oncology in the Stanford School of Medicine, Dr. Albert Koong. We will start off with a brief meet-and-greet, where we'll explain the structure and purpose of our organization. Then, Dr. Koong will give his talk on
The topic of his talk will be "Targeted Therapies for Cancer.” Afterward Dr. Koong will be giving us a tour of the Stanford Cancer Center.
We will start off with a meet-and-greet, where we'll explain the structure and purpose of our organization. Then, a Stanford researcher will speak to use about his experiences with biotech. Come out and meet other students interested in biotech, as well as a professional in the field!

We will be meeting in the front lobby of the Center for Clinical Science Research. You can reach this building by walking along Governor's Lane. If you enter the lane from Campus Drive, the Center should be on your right. If you enter from Cooper Lane, it should be on your left. The Center is a tall, glass building. The entrance is located between two such buildings, near the center.

Dr. Albert Koong
Associate Professor, Radiation Oncology,
Radiation Therapy
Stanford School of Medicine
Dr. Koong is currently an Associate Professor and Vice-Chair in Radiation Oncology in the Stanford School of Medicine. His clinical interests are in developing advanced radiotherapy techniques for the treatment of gastrointestinal malignancies. Dr. Koong's laboratory interests are to develop molecularly targeted cancer therapies. His current study is to understand the role of hypoxia and the tumor microenvironment on malignant progression. He received his BS degree from Stanford for Biological Science and PhD from Stanford in Cancer Biology. Dr. Koong received his Medical degree from Northwestern University and took his residency at Stanford Radiation Oncology.
